"Bag It! Don't Leave Home Without It In 2012" Giveaway Event Sponsor: Clee's Handmade Quilting Essentials

If there is one thing that I am definitely not good at, but would one day like to learn and possibly master, it's making anything out of thread or yarn.  In other words, I am not a sewer or quilter.  I am all right with basic hand sewing, but I can't, by any means, crochet or knit.  Now that's a different story for Christine Lee.

Having been exposed to sewing since she was 9-years-old, it was only natural to take up quilting, which she did in 1999.  Since then, she has been teaching the art of quilting to others and donating the samples created in class to the nurses' offices of local schools in Fredericksburg, VA. Christine is proud to know that these blankets are used to comfort the sick kids in those schools.

For the "Bag It! Don't Leave Home Without It In 2012" Giveaway Event, Christine sent to me a messenger bag, listed as a "metro bag" on her Etsy shop, Clee's Handmade Quilted Essentials.  I was super excited to receive this bag, because she had told me in advance that she had made the bag from a pair of men's pants.  I absolutely love that Christine upcycled this versatile, neutral-colored piece of clothing into a stylish bag that can easily be paired with jeans or a dress.  I have used it as an eco-chic purse, small diaper bag, and as a tote to hold my kids' snacks and drink cups. It's a great multi-purpose bag that I can wash clean with the rest of my laundry.

Christine also surprised me by including a handmade plastic bag holder.  Although we don't have any more plastic bags in our home, we do know other people who still do, namely my in-laws.  So, I believe this bag holder will wind up being their stocking stuffer for Christmas.

When you purchase any item from Christine's Etsy shop, you can be assured knowing that the proceeds go directly into the purchase of the fabrics used in her quilting classes that eventually get donated to the schools.  You can find some great gift ideas for the holidays - from beautifully sewn fabric coasters to one-of-a-kind table placemats.

You can connect with Christine and get news on her shop by following her on Twitter and adding her as a friend on Facebook.  And if you'd like to win a large reusable grocery bag from Clee's Handmade Quilted Essentials, don't forget to come back here on Tuesday, December 6 to enter the "Bag It!  Don't Leave Home Without It In 2012!" Giveaway Event!
