Review & Giveaway: It's Our Earth Recycled Record Chip Bowl and Journal Gift Set

They say that with age comes wisdom.  But in the case of the Rahn family, knowledge on reusing, reducing, and recycling started out with their young children.  Inspired by their live-green-eager daughters, Richard and Xristina Rahn looked for ways to recycle materials (that would otherwise be disposed or discarded) into new products that people would enjoy all over again.  In 2005, It's Our Earth was born, and the first retail shop opened in downtown Wheaton, IL.

With their philosophy, "Recycling only works when you are making and selling products made from recycled materials," It's Our Earth has more than 300 products on their etsy site, all made from recycled products.  One of their popular items for sale this holiday season is the record bowl and journal set.  Choosing from more than 100 great titles, I was ecstatic to receive the Beatles '65 set to review.

I'm a huge Beatles fan, and I couldn't be more impressed with how the bowl and journal looked upon arrival.  I love how the LP itself is still in great condition.  It's great for serving chips, popcorn, crackers, candy, or cookies for any party or occasion.  These bowls are perfect for a rock or disco party!  Don't want to use it for food?  It makes for a great display storage for hair accessories, jewelry, or keys.

The journal is spiral bound using the same titled LP jacket and is made from 100% recycled and acid-free paper.  The book can be used in the kitchen for recipes and grocery lists, at the mail area for quick notes and messages, for school, or the office.  I myself have been using it to jot down ideas and notes for this blog.  Repurposed and upcycled indeed!

The It's Our Earth shop offers other products that are fun, practical, and great conversation starters.  If you're looking for unique gifts for the those on your list this Christmas, you can find some awesome items that will surely surprise some people, including recycled floppy disk notebooks and candy wrapper purses.

It's Our Earth is one of our generous sponsors for the "Bag It! Don't Leave Home Without It In 2012" Giveaway Event next week.  I will be reviewing one of their lovely upcycled market tote bags made from coffee burlap sacks.
